Hello,
I'm new to Zorin. I installed Zorin 17 core a couple of weeks ago and was making some headway but 18 came out so instead of waiting for the upgrade I did a fresh install of 18 core.
I've been stuck all day trying to solve a problem creating a samba share on nautilus. This is the error I get.
And in case the image didn't work, the error is;
'net usershare' returned error 255: cli_rpc_pipe_open_noauth: rpc_pipe_bind for pipe lsarpc failed with error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED
net usershare add: cannot convert name "Everyone" to a SID. The transport connection is now disconnected..
I've spent the entire day searching and trying solutions but nothing works. On 17 core, it just worked

It's a bit ugly just when Zorin want to recover Windows 10 users, not being able to simply share a folder.
I did a test with AnduinOS 1.4 and everything works perfectly. I checked with Synatic and we can see that AnduinOS uses Samba 2.4.22.3 (dfsg-4ubuntu2.1, Ubuntu 25.04) while Zorin remained in 2.4.19.5(dfsg-4ubuntu9.1, Ubuntu 24.04) I had the same problem under Zorin 17 and had to wait for the patch. Let's hope for the fix soon because all the same, aesthetically, this Zorin looks great.
Not being able to share folders is a deal breaker for me, too. Great looking os; but I hesitate to upgrade. I need to communicate between my Windows pcs and Zorin.
Me too. I spent far too long trying to get this working before finding it's a bug. Also spent hours over the years trying out other Linux flavours before realising I wanted to work with the computer not tinker with it...
I still have hopes for this one. We'll see...
Placing this here, to be notified if it's fixed or someone comes up with a workaround.
Ive tinkered with Linux before and don't recall having an issue trying to share a folder via the GUI. This time I didn't have the option in my contextual menu; I found that strange, and nothing here in thre forums really pointed me in the right direction to create a simple folder share.
I search and installed Samba, than I did not see the option of Local Network Share in right click menu.
I ran the following command to install nautlius-share according to a search result; afterwards I see a Sharing option in the menu.
But like OP I get the same error after trying to create a shared folder. I wanted to post to say I too am having this issue and find it strange since I chose zorinOS (Pro) for its simplicity, but I'm already spending too much time just trying to get a shared folder setup.
I try since 2 days to get Samba to work under 18, with 17 it worked without a problem here it is not working at all, I have set it up in smb.conf like always, but even when Windows is asking me for the credentials I get a error massage that I have not the rights, I even tryed wiht public and guest access yes same result no access. I'm very dissapointed, especialy as a Pro version buyer, when untill tomorror there will be no fix I will will changen back to the v17
If a Pro purchaser, have you sought help from the devs which you are entitled ?
But you would have to be patient, at this busy time, as there are just the two of them.
You can give it a try, but a solution may possibly be determined from help of the community, before the devs are able to reply to you. No harm trying both avenues.
I wrote them, when I get a feedback I will let everyone know, I have also gave them the link to this forum site, maybe it will help them to find a solution.
Ok, first off Ubuntu 24.04 is an LTS release and 25.04 is a 'testing' release with a lifespan of only nine months. Usually Canonical use these testing releases to see what works and what doesn't and I have just read elsewhere that users wanting to upgrade to 25.10 shouldn't do so as there are still outstanding bugs in 25.04. This is out of Zorin's hands as package updates to things like samba should come through Canonical. At this juncture can I check with all of you having this issue in 18, did you change your update sources from your country server to Main Server in Software Updater Settings, left most tab?
