Hi everyone!
Just a quick heads up that we released a revised set of .isos for Zorin OS 18 (r1) today.
These updated images come with all of the latest software updates, security patches, and drivers out of the box. They also come with fixes that we've implemented for some bugs reported by the community post-launch, including the following:
- The
E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)error while installing Zorin OS 18 on some computers (see threads 1 and 2). This was caused by an issue when the installer attempted to upgrade the NVIDIA driver and kernel after booting the Zorin OS USB Install Drive with the "modern NVIDIA drivers" option. - An issue that would cause some non-default cursor themes to not apply fully throughout the system (see this thread).
- Some apps and features weren't working correctly for some users due to a few faulty pre-installed Apparmor profiles. This included Samba, a feature which allows you to share files & folders over your local network from the Files app (see threads 1, 2, and 3).
- If you previously installed Zorin OS 18 and are experiencing this issue, please open the Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and enter this command to apply the fix, before restarting your computer:
sudo apt remove apparmor-profiles
- If you previously installed Zorin OS 18 and are experiencing this issue, please open the Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and enter this command to apply the fix, before restarting your computer:
The newly-revised Zorin OS 18 r1 .isos should improve the out-of-the-box experience for all new users.
