Zorin 18 upgrade not detected by upgrader

My Zorin Upgrader was updated by the Software Update application, however it still cannot find any new version of Zorin, even though 18 was released.

Any ideas on why this happens?

It may that the server you are connected to are not synced with the others. Try switch to another server in software store.

Thank you for this, but it did not work.

Is there anything else I can try?

Did not work with the servers I tried. Is there a specific server I should select? There are a lot.

Try the Main server. As I wrote in another thread the servers might be overloaded at the moment due to heavy traffic.

Was already on the main server when I first encountered the issue. :frowning:

If I understand the following correctly, it might take some time till you can upgrade from 17 to 18.

Direct upgrades from Zorin OS 17 to 18 will be available in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to our newsletter to be among the first to know when you can upgrade.

From the blog article...

That would be weird... Not allowing it immediately for their premium customers aka the paying users.

I just realised the core version was more hassle free.
I should've stayed non pro.

Booooooo, boooooo. Please don't do this. ZorinOS is excellent and deserves our support. All we have is a blog post and our assumptions. There may be a reason we are unaware of.

Exactly how I feel right now. :frowning:

Vous avez Zorin 17Pro. Donc il vous faut acheter à nouveau Zorin 18 Pro. Ou alors réinstaller Zorin 18 Core

The Upgrade Process isn't directly on Release available. You have to wait a bit.

Good evening,

If I download a full version of Zorin 18 Pro and create an installation USB stick and install Zorin 18 Pro on a machine where Zorin 17 Pro is installed, will I keep my applications and files?

This is the case with other Linux distributions, but is it the case with Zorin OS?

Thank you in advance,

Kind regards,

Hervé

Welcome to the Forum!

No. This will wipe the Disk and delete all Your Data and then install Zorin 18 Pro. When You do that, it is extremely important to save Your Data before!

Or: You wait until the Upgrade over the Zorin OS Upgrader is available. Like in the
Blog Artice is written (nearly at the End under ''Upgrade'') this will take some Time.

This makes me :frowning: ...lol

I was all excited to do the upgrade this evening. Oh well. Guess I'll just have to clip my toe nails instead..

This is not the case with other GnuLinux distros. Nor is it the case with any operating system. Windows OS, GnuLinux or Mac OS.
Reinstalling the Operating System has the same result.

However... the system may preserve the markers for present files or the markers for files on external devices, which can lead a person to believe that their personal data was preserved after a reinstall - but while that can happen, It is more likely to not happen.

If you seek to retain all your installed applications and personal files, do not use the Reinstall Method of the .iso written to a LiveUSB stick. Instead, use the Zorin Upgrader Tool from the app menu, once Zorin OS 18 is available in the Direct Upgrade servers.

what server?

I have to say, I was really looking forward to today! I'm disappointed but, oh well, what's another couple of weeks.

The upgrade will be out for current installs after a few weeks. This helps with making sure not the entire community installs at once and if a bug is found breaking stuff less people are affected.

They did a beta to help find bugs on test hardware.

They do release for new installs so that there is less chance of problems from modified systems.

If everything goes well over a few weeks, devices with 17 will have a upgrade show up to update systems.

Trust me you don't want a major version release for everyone all at once day one. I cant tell you how many times I have had to fix devices due to day one updates.
