Zorin 18 upgrade not detected by upgrader

what I meant was, after buying I should've continued using the core and not the pro version. because being on pro means its an issue upgrading to latest version and being late to latest

I think the Zorin team will provide the upgrade options only when they feel the update is stable enough not to cause any problems. On Ubuntu, the upgrade to the new version of Ubuntu from a previous version happens only when the point release has been released, which is 3 months after a new LTS is released.
Regardless, you can download and perform a fresh installation at any time. But it can have couple of minor bugs a times. I'm expecting it's same with Zorin OS too.

Using core you will still need to wait for latest because 18 core isn't an upgrade option yet either.

haha, maybe I'm getting impatient after dual booting with arch for so long

is not incoming updgrader

This is pretty ridiculous that the upgrade isn't available at release. Definitely will be the last version of Zorin I will ever purchase.

Zorin seems to think an incomplete release is a release, like finishing the marathon except for the last 6 miles.

I've let them know that it would be easier to take Zorin and Linux more seriously if a release was really a complete release. There's this fanfare and countdown for the new version, but for us stalwart users, who have been running Zorin OS for years on well-established machines, we're sitting on our thumbs.

And before anyone says that Microsoft does the same thing... Well, I believe were here because we want something other maybe even better than MS.

The validity of this statement cannot be underestimated.

It's not ridiculous at all, it's good practice. Distro version upgrades can be messy and all sorts of problems can crop up. It's wise to wait a while after release to work on making the upgrade path as smooth and trouble-free as possible. Ubuntu LTS for example doesn't make an upgrade path available until its first point release.

Can understand you having this thought. There is a difference however between having a fresh install compared to doing an upgrade as to where you have installed packages already that may not work so well with the updated ones.
Personally I'd rather wait a few weeks and give them time to get potential issues straightened out instead of upgrading and having to deal with frustration of things not working correctly. Trust me, I want to upgrade too. But not as much as I don't want to deal with possible issues.

It's often a better or wise, way to go to wait a bit if we're looking for a stable system. If we don't have problem with new hardware who could be solved with new brand version, waiting few weeks / months before install can help i think especially for production daily driver.
Example for Ubuntu, i like to tell new users to wait for the next ".1" or even ".2" release before install new LTS version on a production machine or daily driver.
As far as Zorin is based on Ubuntu and we are now on the 24.04.3 release, i feel (i'm maybe wrong), that with more than one year and half since this first Ubuntu version released, Zorin has already tested software to work with and the team improved their own version with this solid foundation.
However, Zorin is not pure Ubuntu and i can understand that maybe the team prefer to wait before propose users to upgrade from Zorin 17.

I'd wish they'd at least offer us an exact timetable on when it's going to be released, so that we don't have to check forums and attempt manual upgrades so many times until it pops up.

Yep. This is definitely not "perfect" ... I don't know yet if developers get feedback from community (and users of the Core, Lite ans Education versions) - and how, if they do so ...

The ZorinGroup follows the Feedback forum as well as noting repeating issues under the other headings.

Hey just thought i'd chime in here and say i have no option to upgrade in the zorin upgrade tool either on zorinOS 17

Try different repositories in your software updater. I tried about 3 different ones until I used one at one of the major US universities. I also got the 20% discount coming from 17.3 Pro to 18 Pro.

Didnt work so ill just wait for now

Run

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

prior to checking the Zorin Upgrader.

I did as you suggested to no avail

Ah, yes... I was posting a reminder - but we are still awaiting ZorinGroup to release the Direct Upgrade Files to the Upgrader...

When they do - the above needs to be done for the Upgrader to see it.
