Ah ok thank ya ![]()
I just opened the Upgrader to look at it (Just to see what others see) and this cracked me up:
I am ahead of the wagon.
So did you upgrade from 17.3 Pro to 18 Pro via the Upgrader? Can you tell us on what server you are configured? Cause I cannot see the upgrade on the Main server.
How can we get Zorin 18 lite now to test it? Did you get a pre-release version, or is it being displayed incorrectly because you installed the xfce desktop, and it's not Zorin 18 lite at all?
This is the correct guess. That is what made me laugh, a bit.
I thought 18 Lite is not due for a few weeks yet. From past releases it can be a few weeks until Lite gets released and with various users experience of different issues affecting them, I suspect they are focusing their attention that their flagship of Core is working well enough before releasing Lite.
I am not in any way suggesting any one release any thing that isn't ready for release. I'm simply suggesting that we all make sure it is all ready for release and announce it then.
The upgrader was updated again today (Software Updater detected an update), but it still doesn't detect Zorin 18.
I guess we wait.
Well its been a few weeks already...... One question... When will the upgrader be avilable ![]()
I think it is worth mention that big OS players like Microsoft release an upgrade after like 10 years, they have a robust testing team to check these upgrades, due to their financial muscle. Zorin upgrades appear every 4 years, don't have financial muscle or resources to thoroughly test the upgrade mechanism themselves... So it's fair to understand that they test it on a few actual users to understand upgrades. Some other Linux Distros may not do this because they are rolling distros (like Arch, Manjaro...) but then, they also come with disclaimers and your system can break on numerous occassions during upgrades (I have experienced it over last 10 years)... So Patience pays....
See you guys next year to check if the update will be available. This is the second time this week that Zorin updates everything, including the Zorin Core version, but the main Zorin version does not change hahaha
Hopefully it will be out until next year. ![]()
It's here ! Downloaded it a couple of minutes ago. Will proceed to the upgrade tomorrow.
No reason for bickering any longer.

Wow!! Congratulations!! It has not come up for me yet, but the Upgrader does show that it is coming soon and has a button to be notified when it is available. Hopefully I will get mine soon too!!
For me It just says Zorin OS 18 Pro coming soon.
I stand corrected, must have read to hastily. Sorry for the almost fake news.
Hey I wasn’t replying to you, I was just stating my experience. in fact I see same as what you see in ungrader. I just didn’t type it all out.
I was able to at least attempt to upgrade from 17.3 Core, note in my case it was via the 'Upgrade Zorin OS App' not the 'Software Updater App'
I've tried twice and both times I get a message stating "Sorry an internal error happened"; screen shot attached
Laptop Specification has 4gb Ram with Intel© Celeron© N4000. I am hoping that intime it will work...
If you have added third party gnome extensions and foreign repositories to your software sources please disable them before the upgrade.
Did you follow these steps?
Thanks Forpil
Yes that's the page I found that I used as a guide. In addition after reading your post I installed the Extension manager app and switched off all extensions and tried the upgrade again with exactly the same result.
I did do as requested on item 3 of that link:
1. Open the Zorin Menu → Utilities → Terminal and enter this command:
gsettings set com.zorin.desktop.upgrader show-test-upgrades true
Nothing appeared to happened, screen shot as below
I would have thought that would have started some clever terminal type magic?
