When sharing text/link from my phone to my computer, sometimes it crashes and I can't use the link or copy the text. I have to close zorin connect and restart it for a chance it will work this time, and it takes a long while to open it back up.
When you send more then 2 files, it only sends the first 2 files and fails to send the rest also. It also sometimes doesn't show a "Send to Mobile Device" randomly and when that happens, the app just doesn't work for a few minutes and when it does, it does tons of popups of actions (opening the file explorer for everytime I pressed the "share" button, etc) for stuff I tried all at the same time, proving it knew what I was doing and was just unresponsive.
Have you enabled the firewall at all? Do you use a VPN?
If you have enabled GUFW (Gui for Uncomplicated Fire Wall) you can add the predefined rule that Zorin Connect is allowed through.
If you are using a VPN, neither Zorin Connect or KDE Connect will work as a VPN effectively changes your IP address to one that does not exist on the physical network.
I created a Tutorial on how to use Zorin Connect, the easy method here:
I've been using Zorin Connect for over a year with Zorin 17 and 18 and it has worked with my two devices (with these exact bugs) perfectly, I never needed to use the firewall and I never used a VPN.
When I tried that, nothing changed, it works just as it has.
The bugs are not connection issues. For 100% of the time it only sends the first 2 files I request to send, and the other things listed.
When sharing text or a file, there is sometimes a chance it freezes and I have to restart the computer or wait 10 minutes for it to respond and connect again.
the multi-file send stopping at 2 is a zorin connect / kde connect thing that has been around forever. text share freezes + delayed popup dumps usually mean the daemon wedged.
when it freezes:
killall zorin-connect kdeconnectd 2>/dev/null
then reopen Zorin Connect once
for bigger dumps just send in batches of 2 for now, or use localsend / scp. the "Send to Mobile Device" vanishing for a few minutes is the same wedged daemon.
paste:
dpkg -l | grep -iE 'zorin-connect|kdeconnect'
and say phone android or iphone.
Thanks for this info. I did not realise this issue, and to clarify this is sending from computer to device. Never had issues in KDE Connect sending multiple images to computer.
