Zorin OS 16.2, showing brief errors before startup, on Dell XPS 9520?

Have you tried seeing if your files are accessible within Zorin yet? That's going to be a deciding factor if you need to reinstall or not. Let's start with that and move from there when we get a response if you can see your files on the Win disk through Zorin.

I hope you don't mean encrypted or locked with BitLocker; because you need the encryption key to unlock this drive if so..

No I had Bitlocker long disabled ever since I first set up my Win11 local account.

So I login my Zorin account and then check the SSD drives on my PC right?

Ok I'm in my Zorin SSD and yes, I can see my Win11 username & files that are in my other SSD.

What should I do now?

Good! Did you make any backups? Nobody likes lost data, right?

Well, have you tried anything yet? You have two options from hours ago you could have already tried by now - another system refresh, letting it finish this time. Or - getting into the repair console and trying more bootrec and bcdboot repair commands but, we cannot do that for you.. Only you can. Just like checking your partitions with Disks in Zorin - if you have damaged partitions on your Win disk, you may need to repair them first before interacting with them and pushing files from the repair console..

So basically getting back into the Windows Manager Settings then entering in the command prompt again?

Or entering command prompt from inside Zorin this time?

By resuming refresh you mean downloading the Win11 image OS for reinstallation? I will only do that as a last resort.

^^ Or that first, then try the automated repair stuff before diving into commands that may get overwhelming.

No, this is a Windows problem - you need to address this only within a Windows environment.

Like in your video that you posted - you started a system refresh, then selected to keep your files, then cancelled the process while it was starting to wipe system files and rewrite the whole OS except your personal files.. Only this time you need to do this from the Windows installation - nothing's changed about what you need to try.

If you need to make an installation USB then the link was posted twice on the free tool by MS to create one..

Start with a system refresh and keeping your files which rewrites the Windows install and keeps your files via the Windows installation USB - then try automated repair if that doesn't work -- then worry about trying to do anything in a command line. But, these steps haven't changed. Please attempt these and report your findings; in that order.

In my video I was trying to reset my PC and keep my files, when I clicked on the reset options - it says "AutoRepair could not repair your PC" - is this the same thing as 'system refresh'

That and being unable to boot into safe mode are precisely the issues i'm having since the past month now...

Okay - the video shows you starting a process that wipes your Windows install out and then rewrites it.. you cancelled that - even if it were a few seconds, how fast are computers these days again? That could do a lot of damage to a lot of files in a very short amount of time. Just, FYI..

What needs to be done to troubleshoot the issues have been exhaustively explained - if you are that unwilling to try them, then reinstall. But, I can't boot your USB, I can't run the repair options, I can't get into your BIOS - you can, though! Maybe post some pictures, or another video, of what's going on?? A back and forth at almost 100 posts now is getting excessive without any definitive answer on you trying anything or not..

The issue is I don't know how to resume the system refresh - in fact when I first uploaded the video of the problem i'm having I didn't even know it has something to do with the 'system refresh' being cancelled - Win11 never mentioned anything about it...

You don't resume, you start all over since it was cancelled. You cannot 'restart' this action once cancelled unless you start all over from the beginning.

So I do the exact same thing I did on the video before or something else this time?

Boot from the Windows installer and try the system repair.

Ok so I insert a USB Drive and then do the Startup Repair?

At this point I can only direct you to earlier posts that explain what needs to be done.

Whenever I boot up my PC it shows the log file: \System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

What exactly does this mean?

Ok I actually tried downloading & using the Win11 OS image copy by clicking on this exact link and whilst I was trying to download it in my USB Drive, an issue came up telling me I am unable to do so.

Also while I was on the Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery settings, I tried to factory reset the OS but it said "Not available for this computer"

I have done exactly what was on this earlier post and it still failed to resolve my issue.

What else can I try now?

See if this helps:

As I've mentioned before, I've already done exactly what the video is telling me to do and it keeps showing an unknown error during the Win11 download process...

I'm afraid I cannot reinstall the Windows OS on my SSD.

Surely there has to be another option I can give a try...

I'll try it - whatever it may be!

Re-installation instructions from MS:

Take your time through this guide and follow these steps closely..

Wait a minute, in an earlier post you had mentioned I should only do a complete reinstall as a last resort only once after I have tried out every other method first.

Can you please tell me other ways I can resolve this issue - remention any older post on here you had made earlier if you have to.
