Zorin Os 17 release

I've found that a fresh install is quite, well, refreshing.
It's like deep cleaning up your desk after two years of piling up documents.

I have a question regarding the Pro version. In 16 it gave you the right to Zorin Litle Pro for free, will it be the same now?

Yes, Zorin OS Pro Lite is included in the bundle of Zorin OS Pro.

After upgrading to Pro I am experiencing some graphical glitches when three finger swiping and minimizing windows. Though, might not be an issue with the upgrade itself, but rather the extensions for the new layouts, cause I was not able to reproduce those glitches in the Gnome vanilla layout. I was testing them all and clicking through them and their fucntions like a madman. Gnome 2 layout seemed the most prone to glitches, follow by Ubuntu layout.

Your serious? What is the point of the up-grader in 16.3 pro then? I have 4 PC's i run this OS on, I am not purchasing until there is a upgrade option. No way I am reinstalling. What a shame. I'll have to wait then.

Funny - can't get the direct upgrader to work so far.

Please note these two posts above:

I think I will sticky this temporarily...

EDIT: Done.

Actually, you won't enjoy beta. You're on Core, now.

Me too, unfortunately the holiday season calls for budgeting measures. Are you already planning on some customizations you can do?

Some comments and other reads have made me question what I previously thought regarding upgrading from 16 pro to 17 pro...

Just so I'm clear:
If we previously paid for 16 pro, we won't be able to upgrade to 17 pro? (with the upgrader tool)
If we want 17 pro, we need to pay for it just like we paid for 16 pro?

For some reason, I thought my purchase of 16 pro meant we would be able to upgrade without paying for another OS.

Thanks in advance.

The "fee" is more a contribution than anything else. You can get Core at no cost no matter what. If you voluntarily buy Pro, the developers give you back something extra with some additional layouts and more software already pre-installed. (You can do this yourself on Core at no cost.) Anyway, I don't understand why people gripe about Zorin given Core is free anyway. Pro is a way for the community to give back and get something back in-return. It's a win-win; the developers can continue developing Zorin and the users get something extra for their contribution.

Totally agree.
It seems to me a very good way to support the project.
It strikes me that there are still people who believe that developers are ethereal beings who have no economic needs.

Ok, cool, thanks...

But look man... calm yourself. I was only asking a question. No need to get an attitude. I agree with @anon50265909 and @alexandros - I just wanted to double-check myself.

That's all that was necessary...

I have read this post several times and I fail to see an upset attitude in it.
Rather, to me it reads as though several clarifying examples are given in order to help the concept be more understandable. If someone were to answer with "yes, you must pay again", this makes it sound like you are being "double charged."
But by providing examples we can all relate to like buying a new Year model car or Windows major release; this is something we can all relate to as "normal."

Some users very recently bought Zorin OS 16.3 Pro and have a legitimate concern since they bought it one week and the next week, 17 was released. That is not a fair situation for the buyer. For this reason, the ZorinGroup works with them to help get them set up on Zorin OS 17 instead of making them pay again. So if you read those comments, that may have influenced your thinking.

Lastly, Thanks for choosing Zorin OS 16 Pro and supporting development.

@Aravisian Thanks, but to me, there was a clear undertone in their reply message, which went further than necessary to explain a simplified answer already given. I see where your opinion differs from mine and I'm not trying to start a war here. That said, I won't backtrack on my interpretation of the comment in question, because it is just that; an interpretation of an answer in a public forum that consisted of more than is necessary to relay the intended message of "yes, a separate purchase is necessary, take for instance [example1] [example2]." The challenging nature of their reply was an excessive addition which takes things further than helping the concept to be more understandable and could have been a simple, informative reply to a question.

As soon as I saw that a separate purchase of OS 17 pro is required to enjoy the benefits and contribute to the development team, I purchased it.

I have no issue with supporting the developers with a purchase. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some particular detail or option. To make sure that my purchase of 16 pro didn't inherently come with the ability to upgrade to 17 pro before spending $48. I took issue with the tone of their last message response to my legitimate question.

How can I get Gnome OS-like or Chrome OS-like themes for Windows 11 for free?

I believe that you are referring to the Layouts, not themes.

All of Zorin OS system and icon themes are free and in the repository for all users.

The layouts included with Zorin OS Pro are only included in the specified Zorin OS Pro repository. However, a user can mimic these layouts by adjusting their preferences of panel options, menu options, etc individually (which is what I always do on Zorin OS Lite to get the "layout" I prefer which Zorin OS does not offer). Or, they can script a layout to be applied across all aspects of the desktop.
For example; if you right click on the panel and select the settings option, you can change how the panel displays its items or how things are positioned and so on.

To me, this kind of customizing is fun as well as informative as it helps me learn the system and learn new things about coding, too even.

Zorin 17 Pro on the new - this year bought - a Yoga i7 16" oled touch laptop running kde-plasma - very nice - still had to install grub customizer in konsole - lol - but she's sweet now! Doing old laptop now. Looking good! The dual boots will have to wait for the upgrader to kick in, and then after how to update system to pro.
