Firefox problem

My financial institution has a ticket for this problem but hasn't got back to me yet. I've been leaving notes for Firefox in the Report broken site dropdown menu for a couple weeks but they haven't responded yet either. I can get into my banking institution website OK on Chromium but Firefox is taking me to the 2 step verification page (which is blank) although my credit union turned off that feature when I first called in the problem. Is there a Terminal command where I can update Firefox or unscramble it? Everything else seems to be working on Firefox except this one security feature. I rather not delete and reinstall but I guess I could if I had to. Any ideas?
A few weeks ago, we worked through another issue here:

If you have already installed Firefox without using flatpak (following the other topic), it seems to be something related to the bank's website.

Some incompatibility of the site with Firefox. Especially if you need to install a security plugin for access, as is common on bank websites in my country.

That's why today I prefer to access it only via cell phone.

Do you use now the .deb Version of Firefox or still the Flatpak Version?

I followed zenzen's directions above and I assume what I did was delete the flatpak version and install Firefox in .deb. When I put "list flatpak" in Terminal, nothing is displayed now. My credit union's IT department is running a ticket on me but it's been weeks now. They turned off the 2 step verification when I spoke to them last week but Firefox is still taking me to the 2 step verification page which is blank. I get the feeling when I talk to my credit union's help line, I'm not the only one complaining about Firefox.

Firefox is my 1st choice in browsers and it used to work fine until the last 3 months or so. This financial site is the only problem I've found so far. Chromium has been working for me as a backup so it's not an urgent problem but Firefox has worked in the past.

You may have to try another browser.

Okay, I understand. The thing is: the Chromium Architecture is continuos to spread than the Firefox Architechture. So, You can have the situation that Chromium-based Browers run better with Websites because there are supporting more a bigger Base than a smaller one. It don't have to but can.

What you could do is: use a chromium-based Browser for Your Banking Stuff and for the rest Firefox for a while and test from Time to time if it runs.

I think the simple Thing to delete Browser Cache and Cookies You have already tried?

They don't, either for privacy, the report is anonymous or they have no time to do even this. They actually read the reports and, hopefully, find a way to make the webpage work as intended. Having a reply would be good though, I understand, also (and mostly) to know if the problem was right with the page or that the user changed Firefox settings in a way that don't make it work properly. And I know it because I once did, then solved on my own.

Did you try opening that page and viewing the console for useful logs? Let the page load, press F12 when ends and check categories on the right .

Or running the page without the advanced anti-tracking protection? Click the shield on the link bar and disable the protection temporarily. On many pages the shield is blue so some tracking elements have been blocked but for some pages they are necessary for them to load correctly.

That would be my first thing to try in Firefox as well.

Yes, I tried that but no luck. It's not an urgent problem. I use Chromium for banking now. What bugs me is that Firefox used to work and now it doens't. But thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Also disable FF extensions/add-ons. Check you recognise each extension/add-on and that one has not been installed unknowingly.

Was able to make contact with someone at the credit union IT department who gave me a work around with Firefox. Going through a "New Private Window" works, I'm told, because the window clears all the cookies and data when it closes. I'm not clear why I can't clear the trouble making cookies myself via Settings>Privacy&Security>Cookies&Site Data (didn't work) but I can bank again with Firefox using the Private Window workaround. Thanks again for your interest.

Really, I can't imagine how clearing cookies/cache before browsing would be different from going in private mode.

Do you have extensions installed? Extensions by default do not run in private windows.

That is the Ghost in the Machine, haha!

Add Bleachbit to remove all of Firefox's cookies and clean up everything except your passwords, Just sudo apt bleachbit. Read everything carefully, don't wipe anything you're not certain about - as you press on each option you'll see all the information you need to decide if to clean / delete it or not. if in doubt don't check the box. It only takes a few seconds to run - do it just before you need to use your online banking, and maybe once a month to keep things running smoothly.

Better to use Stacer than Bleachbit as have read either on here or another forum and they screwed their install. Don't install Stacer from Software as it is/was out of date last time this was raised. Get Stacer from here:

You need to scroll down the page quite a ways to get to the instructions for installing.

OK, got it. I had "Startpage Privacy Protection" installed. When I disabled it, I was able to display the 2 step verification without a problem. That extension has been there for a while. Maybe something changed on Firefoxe's end to make it less functional. Anyway, now I know what to turn off before I go to the bank. Thanks
