Oh
You need to boot into the 5.4 kernel first.
You recall:
Reboot - tap esc tab at the mother board splash screen until the Grub Menu shows
Advanced Options for Zorin
Arrow key to Zorin on 5.4....
Highlight with enter to select and boot.
Once logged in, ensure you are on 5.4 kernel:

uname -r

Then try to install the 340 drive. DKMS is Dynamic Kernel Module Support - I think that the later 5.15 kernel does not support the 340 driver.

Now i can t reboot :frowning:

It says oh no something has gone wrong

My jaw actually dropped.

The only thing we did was install the STABLE 5.4 kernel.

I think we need to accept at this point that this computer is a bit too old for these systems.
You could test Zorin OS Lite, Antix Linux or MX Linux earlier versions.

So it will not work with zorin os core

Will it work with zorin os lite?

And we installed 340m kinda tho

And can a developer(admin) help me?

If it was me, I would try it.

The ZorinGroup is responsible for managing Zorin OS Development.
For Time Management, they must limit providing HelpDesk support in order to focus on the job of development.
To this end, the members of the forum offer help to each other, allowing us to pay-it-forward for the free operating system that ZorinGroup provided.

There is a paid version of Zorin OS: Zorin OS Pro.
The ZorinGroup offer Installation Support to users of Zorin OS Pro as there are much fewer users of Pro and as a perk for choosing Pro.

Well how do i change from zorin os core to lite?

You can try Zorin OS 15 Lite in 64 bit since it may have better support on your graphics card:

You can Download Zorin OS 16 Lite:
https://free.download.zorinos.com/16/Zorin-OS-16.2-Lite-64-bit.iso

Or 32bit (Which is Zorin OS 15):

Once you have the .iso, burn the image to a USB Stick the same way as you had when installing Zorin OS 16 Core.

So i m gonna download 15.3 not 16 right?

And what is the difference between lite and core

I am stubborn. I would try them all.

I wish this question was easily answered in one quick sentence.
The primary difference is that Core uses Gnome Desktop Environment.
Lite uses XFCE D.E.
What relates the most to your issue:
Gnome uses the Clutter Window Manager.
XFCE uses the XFWM4 window manager.
Window Management relies on the Graphics cards ability to perform. Zorin OS Lite puts less resource intensive demand on the graphics.

What relates to your experience:
Zorin OS Lite has a different layout, different settings than you are used to. It may be a bit of a learning curve to adapt.

I would start with Zorin OS 15 Lite, since it is older and may be able to work better with the Nvidia card that you have installed.

The problem is that i don t wanna to download 15.3 because there will be no update but at the same time 16 maybe not work

And which is better for gaming(have less issues) lite or core

I use Zorin OS Lite. I cannot really say which could be better for gaming, but i have zero issues with any games I run.

Well i m gonna download 16.1 lite

And are u sure there isn't possible way to fix it?

Reasonably. This thread has gotten four miles long...

Like there isn't any other version(gpu versions like 390m)

I had needed to look that up earlier and what I found was that the 340 and possibly the 390 drivers were the last to show support for that card.
I cannot say for sure - since I am not an Expert on Nvidia.

For many older cards, the 470 driver still works for them.
Why that is true for some cards and not others, I do not know.
Why it is that some cards will work on a driver version, but the same card on someone elses computer won't - I do not know.
The cards and the drivers are complex and there is a lot going on in them.

This post is currently the 262'nd post in this thread.

Learning is a fine thing, but there also comes a time when a person must accept their own limitations. I cannot learn all about Nvidia Coding in the course of this thread in order to find out.

But we didn't tried 470

And ik this thread is so long but we are getting closer each time
