PC dual boot Zorin 17 pro Crash won't re-boot error code 0000225

Very great, they still recommend balenaEtcher application that kills usb drives

Don't understand what you mean.
Found balenaEtcher on my computer under Accessories. I click on Flash from file and get an error.
How do I send messages direct?

Still get error. and Disk Folder opens showing Flash-drive with 80 GB — 78 GB free (2.3% full), /dev/sdc1,
Linux,Ext4 (version 1.0) — Mounted at /media/lkp/ZorinOS17.2Pro

Yeah I would prefer they update their instructions for another tool. It is worth noting, however, that every tool that can create a bootable USB has had reports of it bricking their USBs. I use Ventoy, but I've read of others losing a drive due to it, and rarely but still once in a while reports of Rufus doing something similar.

But I would rather them change to another tool that's less prone for errors as Etcher has seemed to be in the past.

On Etcher web site the same error that I am having many people are having. Several people found if they switch to Administrative it worked fine. How do I switch in Zorin?

This error was resolved by some by opening it as admin - in Zorin OS, this would mean launching with sudo.
But I wouldn't.

And I would avoid Balena Etcher. This is a bug in Balena Etcher and even if running as admin seems to work; using a bugged Etcher is a bad idea.

I know you have put a lot of work into trying to use Balena Etcher. But I believe you are better off cutting your losses and not wasting more time with it.

We can try another Etcher... OR, you can use Gnome Disks which is already presently installed on Zorin OS.

To use Gnome Disks:

  • Insert the USB Drive

Plug in the USB stick (ensure it has 32GB of free space. If you do not have a 32gig stick, at least greater than 8 gigs. But bigger if you have it for safety margin).

  • Open GNOME Disks

Click on the Zorin Menu (App Menu). Search for Disks and open it. In the Disks GUI window, select the USB drive:

  • Select the USB Drive

On the left side (left pane), find the USB stick listed (do not select the internal hard drive).

  • Format the USB Drive

Click the three-dot hamburger menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Select Format Disk
Choose Quick Format and set the partition type to GPT.
Click Format.
Once that has completed:
Click the three-dot hamburger menu (⋮) again.
Select Restore Disk Image
Click Browse and select the Zorin OS ISO file.
Confirm that the correct USB drive is selected.
Click Start Restoring and enter the password if prompted.

This will burn the Zorin OS .iso file to the USB stick.

Your Root password - the same you use for any sudo command that you run.

Central USA.

I made 2 Flash-Drives:
1st-- 128 GB Samsung Flash-Drive stick
2nd-- 31 GB SanDisk SDDR-113 (1.00)
I think I should make sure it will run before involving my PC.

The flash-drive will run if I select it in MyPC. Tried to repair disk and it said it was fixed can start normal. It goes through start up getting to end and gives message NTLDR is missing. What now to do?
If I install Zorin then this will wipe out Drive C (SSD) is that correct? If my bookkeeping data needed for income tax and other data will be wiped out. Is that not correct? What/How would you proceed?
If you remember my PC was dual boot Windows 10 /Zorin 16.3 menu.

That is not a good sign. Most often, this indicates imminent hard drive failure.

At this point: Please Back Up your data.

Maybe your hard drive is not failing. Maybe we can fix the Zorin Install.

But do not risk it.

Let's ensure you have a safe back up of critical data, first.

How can I back up my data only thing that is running is the TRY 17.2 on flash-drive. Is that not correct?
I can unplug C drive while Flash drive is running I think.

In Try Zorin, can you open the File Manager, then in the left pane, Select Other Locations > your Hard Drive > Home > $USER (Your username) > and find them from there?

I am starting the flash-drive it takes a few min due to checking all the files on every start. Pushing Ctrl + C has no effect. How do I find File Manager once 17.2 starts?

Are you saying you cannot boot into the Try Zorin OS, either?

Yes I can boot into Try Zorin OS.
My PC is showing the 17.2 screen select either Try or install.

Look for this Icon:

I don't have $USER I do have USER.
What is? (find them from there?)
A lot of folders in the ssd have faint yellow padlocks. What does that mean.

Often, these are locked Root folders.

The $USER generic term is a stand-in for your UserName.
From Root, you should see /home
In that folder, your username
Then in that folder, all your personal files.

Clicking on + others Shows several folders, the "C" drive is shown as "J". In J drive there is no $USER just USER. I don't find/understand: From Root, you should see /home
In that folder, your username.) I don't know what I am looking for looks like.
I am at stand still.
