Those look like Flatpak updates.

They are, i wonder why pop uses those.

If that is on POP_OS, it may need its own thread. This thread is specific to the point release of Z 17.2

FYI, Zorin OS uses those as well, part of the updates I got yesterday, were a bunch of those freedomdesktop runtimes. I've got those before, but because I hadn't updated in awhile, I had a load of them to download, which took awhile. Like I said in my post yesterday, it was computer housekeeping day, lots to do.

As far as I understand it, they add functionality for the software that we use, which even includes the Nvidia driver stuff. The same way how Microsoft C++ redistributable's, add functionality to the APPS that Windows uses. For power users like us, we typically need stuff like runtimes, cause without them, our software that we use, don't work so well.

Thats another good reason for having large hard drives, cause your going to need the space, for all the software, the runtimes, the drivers, the games, all of it. But we live in modern times, where it no longer makes sense to have small hard drives anyways, you actually pay more now days, for trying to get less, diminishing returns and all that.

You can now get 1TB HD's for under 100 dollars, it used to be over 100 during the pandemic. And you can get 2TB HD's for maybe 120 dollars or so. It won't be long before 4TB HD's become the new standard, for home computing power users.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about the runtimes, like I said, they are needed to make software on your computer that uses them, work properly.

Yes.
In this case, they add support for Flatpak applications that need to access Nvidia.
They do not provide the System Nvidia drivers.

If a user is not using any Flatpaks, then those runtimes are redundant and unnecessary.

Please unlock it haha.

Haven't you installed some flatpaks? You just can't remember it?

Thanks storm

All i did was a clean install and installed some games. Those flatpaks got installed by default. I will check my main machine later today if it has the same.

I can see that wine is installed. The store is set to flatpak by default. Couldn't it be that?

There is no settings which shows if .deb is by default or flatpak (or i can't find them). I did notice when i open up the store and want to install an application it is set as flatpak and i have a option to switch to .deb. Normally i check this everytime if .deb is standard before i install something. The packages that are installed are installed by default/stock/fresh install.

Edit: Think it is this setting, turned it off for now.

Because these are nvidia related, there are maybe Additions for the Driver to work with Flatpaks.

Correct. Besides flatpaks are in sand then it propably need some software what not supported in POP OS. That how working snap and flatpaks. That why they taken huge space on your HDD or SDD.

Before switching off flatpak, install and run this app;
