Problems with loading after kernel update to 6.8.0-59 and -60

Hi guys,
I'm pretty new with zorin. Just wanted to share with you and if its possible to help that my PC is stuck at loading with kernel 6.8.0-59 and 60 (kernel 6.8.0-52 still loading good) and i don't know what is the issue as my last touch with linux and similar OS was looong time ago. i will try to attach some pictures on load if someone can help.
Thanks in advice

P.S.
looks like its not possible to attach anything here

Hi, and welcome to Zorin OS!

You can attach pictures but it's possible that being a new registered account you can't do that. Try uploading to an external file sharing service or image hosting and sharing the download link, instead.

Thanks its done

on the first page i have to wait about 5 min.
on the second one another 3-4 min.
and onthe last ones i wait a lot and its not going further

Are you dual-booting or only Have ZorinOS?

Can you select "Advanced Options for Zorin" from your grub menu at boot, then choose an older kernel generic version listed?

I'm using double boot as I still have MacOs 10.9.4 on that PC but yes I can use advanced options and still can boot in kernel 6.8.0-52 without problems

Welcome to the Forum!

Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled?

yes fast boot is turned off and secure boot is set to other Os

So, You wrote:

Then I would suggest to start in this Kernel and run it as default. Follow this Description to set it as the default Kernel for start:

Because of the other Kernel's ... maybe a Reinstall could help. Something could be broke. Type the following:

sudo apt reinstall linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic

i made an reinstall and now i have a new kernel 5.15.0-140 :o

maybe i should try some other distribution, looks like Zorin is still not so stable and without problems

But do the other Kernels now work?

From memory that 5.15 kernel may be the one packaged in the .iso, but if you use Software Updater, that will pull in the latest 6.8.0-60 kernel for Z17.3.

Note: Make sure Software Updater source server is set to "Main Server" for best results.

In Zorin 16 it was. In Zorin 17 it is the 6.8 Kernel.

Confirmed, Zorin OS 16, uses the 5.15 kernel, I can prove it, for I'm still on Zorin OS 16...

Zorin OS 17, comes with the 6.8 kernel. In order to make sure you've downloaded the correct ISO, please go to the site link here...

Thats the official site link, not some 3rd party untrusted link!

The reason I mentioned this, is I have a distinct feeling you downloaded an OS 16 ISO, or a counterfeit 17 ISO from a different source.

i use Zorin 17.3 and i followed the instructions from post [HOW TO] set an older kernel to default boot - #11 by Aravisian

no idea why
sudo apt reinstall linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic did installed me an kernel 5.... ????
and under reinstall i mean sudo apt reinstall sorry

and yes software update is set to main server and i downloaded Zorin form official web site here at the same start from Zorin os 17

So, it only installs the 5.15 Kernel and not the 6.8 Kernels again?

yes that's right it has installed kernel 5... instead of updating/reistalling the 6.8

Hmm ... Okay, then we have to be more specific.

For the 6.8.0-59 Kernel:

sudo apt reinstall linux-headers-generic-hwe-22.04 linux-image-generic-hwe-22.04 linux-hwe-6.8-headers-6.8.0-59 linux-modules-6.8.0-59-generic linux-modules-extra-6.8.0-59-generic linux-headers-6.8.0-59-generic linux-tools-6.8.0-59-generic linux-hwe-6.8-tools-6.8.0-59 linux-image-6.8.0-59-generic
linux-generic-hwe-22.04

For the 6.8.0-60 Kernel:

sudo apt reinstall linux-headers-generic-hwe-22.04 linux-image-generic-hwe-22.04 linux-hwe-6.8-headers-6.8.0-60 linux-modules-6.8.0-60-generic linux-modules-extra-6.8.0-60-generic linux-headers-6.8.0-60-generic linux-tools-6.8.0-60-generic linux-hwe-6.8-tools-6.8.0-60 linux-image-6.8.0-60-generic
linux-generic-hwe-22.04

tried to reinstall kernels with the commands, looks like it worked for reinstall but didn't solve the problem. looks like I should keep running .-52 kernel

Seems so. The other Option would be to install a newer Kernel. The 6.12 LTS Kernel for Example. Or - if You open for this - You could make a fresh Install with a new Zorin ISO.
