The thread is somewhat convoluted, but the user seems to get sound working in the end. It may be a help, or give a steer.
From experience sound issues diagnosis can sometimes be illogical and results hit-and-miss.
EDIT: Another hit, implying conflict between sound servers (see post #10).

EDIT2: Also found this here on the forum. Whilst the issue was solved, from my reading it is not really clear what solved it. No sound output neither from speaker nor headphone
Maybe @Peterling can clarify, if he is still active here on the forum.
