Ubuntu?
Or USB HDD: Flash Drive?
USB Flash drive should be your LiveUSB.
hmmm nothing happens. click it the screen goes black for a second and then back to that page
That looks like your Zorin Install on D:
Is that the same USB you installed Zorin OS with?
Yes, that is the bootloader for Zorin OS on D, which is what we need to fix.
How did you boot to that USB previously?
I honestly cant remember. but i can say that it wasn't easy or straightforward. i had a hard time with it with many things not working. im concerned as to why the USB drive isn't progressing
It really should be as straight forward as selecting the USB from the boot menu.
Have you tried a different USB port?
It may be worthwhile to reburn the .iso to USB stick in case the error lies with the USB stick.
ill try another port...reburning the USB I can try.. but im having to work on a temp laptop with very low specs so I hope I can do it. lets try another port first
Other usb port isn't working either....is there a way through to get back to the OS so I can reflash the drive there?
If we could do that, we would not need to boot from USB.
When you boot the USB, does it show anything at all - or only a black screen?
Only blank screen
I was under the impression there was a way back....i was hopeful of getting back in reflashing the drive then doing a clean reinstall. Pretty worrying that neither options seem to be working
You did this earlier picking the first listing that includes (Recovery) to drop to prompt and show the results of cat /etc/fstab
If we know what went wrong with your fstab, we can use
sudo nano /etc/fstab
to adjust and correct it, fixing the problem.
In that recovery root prompt, you can use blkid
to determine the UUID of your primary drive.
Ok, how can i find out what we need and provide it?
Enter the recovery menu - the down to drop to prompt
bad the enter
key
Then run
blkid
Sorry i didn't quite understand. Which recovery mode ideally?
Any will do... the first one...
