Chromium, a little problem with the graphics server. So, I wanted to reinstall Brave:
So why, when you press the print screen key, is the small video camera no longer available in the ad hoc panel?
There is only the small photo camera...
Going to be installing the Zorin OS 18 beta in a virtual machine shortly. I expect I'll have more feedback after.
I honestly don't know why you're experiencing that and I'm not.. Can anyone else check this?
Longer feedback from me after playing around with Zorin 18 Core Beta in a VM ![]()

Window Tiling
I absolutely love this, even though I am not someone who uses it all the time. The top layouts window works exactly like the one in Win11 (not sure if all the layouts are the same but that's not important since you can customize them). I also discovered right clicking on an open application window will give us tiling options with layouts shown, which is amazing! Not sure if this is present in Win11, but I will check. It's good to see Zorin keeping up with good parts of what Windows has to offer, it will make the transition for Win users more seamless. -
New accent colors
I love the fact that we got 2 more accent colors (Yellow & Brown). It's an improvement, however I'd like more😅 I would love to have pink and teal as well. Would it be at all possible to also let the user pick the color they want, and then apply it everywhere? Not sure how difficult that would be to implement with the current structure in place. -
No more cursor shakiness
Before Zorin 18 Core Beta, I tested Zorin 17.3. in a VM on the same laptop, and Wayland sessions had cursor shakiness that Windows 11 on that laptop did not. Switching to X11 solved the issue. In Zorin 18 issue is not present at all, not even in Wayland. Would be great if this is fixed for my older laptop as well! -
Windows not closing
I encountered a bug where I would close a window, but instead of it disappearing from the screen it would just remain there and look color-muted, like the focus has been taken off of it. I saw one user say this has been fixed now, so hopefully it won't happen again. -
Web App not displaying its icon
After creating a web app using the new application, it will show itself in start menu with its custom icon, but it doesn't show it in the taskbar when the app is opened, instead a gear icon is shown. -
Easy admin privileges
Previously when I edited any files in usr/share/themes, I would need to open the Terminal, type sudo gedit file.txt and then edit it like that, which was kind of annoying to do every time. Now I can simply open the file normally, and upon saving changes instead of telling me I can't do that, it will ask for my password and apply the change! -
Animations don't work
I'm guessing this is somehow due to me testing in a VM. -
Zorin themes work properly with Flatpaks
I LOVE this part!! Now when I override themes for flatpaks and set a Zorin theme, it applies without it looking janky and with weird padding, spacing and sizing issues (see here)! It's a shame I can't change the theme with the dark theme toggle in quick settings, but need to use Flatseal instead though.
I will maybe add more things later here💖
Great thank you ![]()
I'm a bit disappointed actually... I understand why they're launching this right now to attract Windows users nearing the end of Windows 10 support., but I think they could have made a minor update now and only deliver Zorin 18 once Ubuntu 26-04 LTS was out. Zorin OS based on 26-04 would be way more interesting than Zorin based on 24-04, and here are the reasons why:
Many of the things they have said in the blog post about updates to the UI and functionality actually come from the Gnome Desktop Environment and not Zorin OS itself. By being based on 24-04 Zorin OS 18 will probably come with Gnome 46 or at max 48, that said Ubuntu 26-04 will probably come with Gnome 50, and that's a big deal. Gnome 50 is going to have full support for VRR displays, advanced and improved fractional scaling and full HDR support, these are things that Windows users take for granted, and will be definitely disappointed once they go to ZorinOS and see that this system doesn't have it. Waiting a bit more would also give ZorinOS, better Wayland support, better PipeWire support and also newer Kernel versions with way more expanded drivers support and refinements. April 2026 will be the start of a new age for Linux, with the use of Debian 13 as a base for the Distro that Zorin OS uses as its own base along with all these features I've mentioned. Unfortunately Zorin OS will not be at the beginning of this new age, and that's disappointing for me as a long time ZorinOS Pro user....
One bit of feedback for now: Wayland is NOT ready for primetime.
I'm testing and running good so far.
I can guarantee you that the 240 million computers/users who no longer meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11 aren’t taking it for granted—not by a long shot. Most of them haven’t even heard of such a thing as HDR or VRR ![]()
Zorin OS 18, well, not bad
I haven't found anything to point out so far, but I installed it a couple of hours ago. But so far everything works as it should here.
But there was one thing;
The iso-live was incredibly slow and sluggish compared to 17.3. But once it was installed, it went significantly better. I haven't tested OneDrive yet, as I have to figure this out with Microsoft 365, as I don't understand this with client ID so I have to figure out where I can find it!
I have 17.3 pro and I expect it will be possible to upgrade to 18! and that the pro link in the email for the download will be changed to 18!
Anyway, congratulations on the great work so far, I'm looking forward to the stable release.
The picture shows my desktop after changing the appearance a bit in Zorin OS 18.
Here is the Question what You mean with ''worth''.
What happens when You type in Terminal sudo apt install brave brave-keyrings to install it? Can You post the Output here?
I can confrim that I'm able to make Video Recordings in the Beta on Wayland. I have both Symbols on the Screenshot Tool.
Camera program dont work!
And no preview of images when importing them from programs!
Am use NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 2060
My webcam its a 4K cam type: Insta 360 link 2 c
The office 365 finally worked for me, you can bypass the client and tenant ID and hit sign in then the browser will pop up and mine connected to all my one drive files no need for insync
Also was able to get my HP printer installed couple hiccups but i can print and scan ![]()
I woke up my beta 18 laptop this afternoon and it was really sluggish so I restarted my laptop and it would not boot up but constantly hung on boot screen. I am attempting a reinstall of ZorinOS beta 18 now. I successfully installed reinstalled ZorinOS 18 beta. I do not know why it hung and would not boot. At least i filed a feedback report incase no one answers me here.

Yes, friend, I was surprised by how fast the app from the software store was, even though I'm using an old mechanical hard drive. Another thing that surprised me was the audio quality! It's very clean, smooth, and doesn't have the "sound booming" effect (I don't know how to spell this effect in English) of previous versions. I approved it on first viewing. So far, I've only noticed one bug that I'm ignoring because I'm using an old Nvidia, and it happens in other versions too. When I turn on the PC, the Zorin logo appears in low resolution and flashes, changing the resolution to the correct one for the screen. When changing, elements appear on the screen and disappear, but it works normally.
Hi friend, it took me a while because I had to mount all the peripherals from my main machine to the old PC. I couldn't successfully run the command you requested, as it returned without response. However, I ran "lshw", installed CPU-X, and took some screenshots for you to check. I'm at your service for any further questions about using the GT610. Best regards!
I literally recommended ZorinOS to a friend looking to leave Windows, and immediately post installation he me messaged me asking about VRR and Fractional Scaling, because of his monitor resolution and freesync support. Unfortunately I've had to say that the system didn't have support for that. This and some other unsolveble problems ended up making him give up Linux and go back to Windows. So clearly these problems do matter for some or even lots of people.

Yes, it worked here too.
