A lot of people are finding the new 6.8 kernel has conflicts with their machine, especially now Wayland is being used in place or Xorg. Could be Nvidia, if you have that... Keep using the older 6.5 kernel as it works on your device.
I'm sure someone will answer with more technical details soon.
That will be your conflict then - it's a common problem.
I hesitate to give advice about having the 6.5 kernel start by default - but if it were me, I'd roll back the system using Timeshift and "hold" the 6.8 kernel update using the software manager / updater (ignore / hold back anything connected to the 6.8 kernel), and then update anything else that got rolled back.
Another good idea is to search this forum for similar posts - there have been a lot, and you'll find some good solutions from more experienced members.
I cant find any similar posts.
I would wait if someone has an Idea on how I could start in 6.5 by default, but if no one replies, then I would do your solution.
@Toedliches_Auge, if you read the whole thread you will understand better the problem you're facing, even though the topic looks different, it's full of information regarding the 6.8 kernel update and conflicts with Nvidia, among others, and advice on using the 6.5 kernel.
So, You have changed to the 6.5.0-45 Kernel, yes? And now You want install the Nvidia 535 Driver? Did You uninstalled the previous Driver before You selected the 535 driver in the Drivers Tab?
Yes I am in the 6.5.0-45 Kernel.
And I changeg nothing on my drivers, this is all default. But it looks like the Default driver (535) should work according to the post. But it did not work with it.
Have you any ideas what I could do?
First type sudo apt remove nvidia* libnvidia* to remove eventually installed Nvidia Drivers. And then type sudo apt install nvidia-driver-535 to install the 535 Nvidia Driver.
