Zorin OS 18 on Huawei Matebook 14

Hi there!

My name is Peter, nickname is "dergraue" - because I have silvergrey hair - not only because of switching from win 11 to Zorin

I installed it once and switched back to Win11 because one single function was not working as expected: The fingerprint sensor is not recognized by the OS. It even does not find it in the hardware device list as USB or something else. I assume that this has not so much to do with Zorin OS, as I had the same issue with Linux Mint and Ubuntu.

So my question is: Is someone here who has managed to install Linux Zorin (or any other derivate) on Huawei Matebook 14 and got the fingerprint reader to work to be able to authenticate with it?

Many thanks and greetings from Vienna!
Peter

There have been a few similar threads in the past, but fingerprint sensors is still one of those things that aren't very widely supported from what I can tell. I'm not sure about Huawei devices, but maybe these other threads have some answers for you:

On Arch is mentioned that it worked for matebook 14, but it sounds as the experimental driver is very instable. I wouldn't recommend to try.
