I was thinking how to solve the problem of icons on the desktop rearranging by themselves and came up with 2 ideas. The first is to set the 2 commands proposed by zenzen to run automatically at times when users have reported that this problem happens (the icons might visibly disappear and reappear but it would be an “innocent” and “safe” glitch, so transcendental). The other is to use a configuration file that automatically saves any movement of icons on the desktop for each resolution in use, which will run automatically at times when users have reported that this problem occurs. This way even if the resolution changes (since this is apparently the main cause of the problem) the configuration file will make sure that the icons are put in the right place. I'd have sent these 2 ideas as feedback but preferred to share them here to know if they're actually feasible or just weird , I'd prefer an official tested, approved and safe solution for everyone than “homemade” solutions .
